We are an ordinary couple based in the UK, and are both driven to change our habits to be kinder to the enchanted world around us. As we started this transition, we found a wealth of information on the interwebs, that largely only applied if you lived in either a big city (London), or a warm climate! We live in the cold, damp North of the UK!
Our Enchanted World isn’t a blog about “zero waste”, or being “carbon neutral”, although we may well touch on each of those. It is about our journey to do our bit for the world around us, and it is just that…. a journey. We aren’t perfect. Far from it. We are all about continuous improvement, and this is where we will write about what we are doing. If it helps somebody else, then great, but really it is a way for me to diarise our efforts, so we can look back in future years at what we have achieved, and no doubt how our journey has zig-zagged as the world we live in changes.
We are lucky, in that we both have good jobs, that allows certain luxuries in life. We have a nice house, but having a job to pay for that means that time is harder to come by – we both work some horrendously long hours, so when we do get time at home, we are either focusing on jobs that need doing (shopping, cleaning, bits and bobs for family or just spending time with friends) or we are shattered and need to recharge ahead of the next work week. As such, we don’t often have time for some of the more extreme suggestions of reducing waste, like weaving clothes from our own hair! However, we do try and do our bit.
